Petals and Pearls

How far we’ve come
from trees to caves
we grunted along
till some bugger’s tongue
turned sounds into words
and then to the way that we say them,
For instance,
In ye olde English parlance
thou would’st have said,
“thou speaketh so and brabble on”
This is akin to burbling or talking a lot
or to cry that “thy wig is tired and elflock”
meanin elves was makin mischief in your hair
We all say it differently
I’ll not be fine wid all de irish
I canna be doing the canny scot accent
When Americans pose questions
and they say, “Ah Assku”
Well, i ask you
Whatcha mean, you reckon?

It’s all petals and pearls
pétalos y perlas
petale și perle
Nevermind how it’s said
what is meant is important – Vive la différence
